26 January 2017: Alexander Liebreich will take over from Brigitte Fassbaender as the Artistic Director of the Richard Strauss Festival from 2018. The Festival, based in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria takes place each June and celebrates the works of Richard Strauss. Alexander Liebreich has been appointed artistic director for a three-year term, starting in 2018.

I am sure that he is the right successor to Ms. Fassbaender and will lead the Festival to a good future at a consistently high level, “says Dr. Sigrid Meierhofer, mayor of the local community.
